My First Blog: The Journey Begins

Hello everyone, and welcome to my very first blog! I’ve been meaning to sit down and put my story into words, so here it is—an introduction to who I am, where I’ve come from, and what’s inspired me along the way.

Growing up, I was a kid who found comfort and joy in military toys. Back then, life was simpler—there wasn’t much technology to distract us, so I spent hours playing and creating stories inspired by the military. From as early as six years old, I was hooked on military movies and TV shows. One of my favourites was “4 Tankers and a Dog”. While my classmates were eager to play with their toys, I’d be pestering teachers to let me watch that show on Saturday mornings when school was still running.

At ten, I discovered another passion—motorbikes. I remember getting my first bike magazine and dreaming of the day I could have my own. It didn’t matter what colour or model; I wanted a collection—sports bikes, off-roaders, and a chopper. My parents, however, had other ideas and wouldn’t even let me entertain the thought of riding.

Fast forward to adulthood, and my interest in the military was reignited by the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It was a wake-up call for me. I realised I wasn’t military-trained, and I didn’t want to be caught unprepared if anything ever happened. That’s when I made the decision to join the military, and it’s a choice I’ll never regret.

Around the same time, my love for speed turned into something more serious. I had always loved riding my bike, pushing the limits on the road, but it wasn’t safe for me or others. That’s when I turned to track days. It was a thrill to compete with others, but my journey wasn’t without setbacks. I crashed, broke my wrist, and ended up in the hospital. That moment changed everything.

I told myself I had to commit fully—go all in or not at all. I started working out seriously, inspired by Christian Iddon’s training videos focused on cardio and full-body fitness. I trained six days a week, dropped from 89 kg to 76 kg in half a year, and saw the results on the track. By 2023, I’d moved up to the fast group, feeling more confident than ever.

The military played a huge role in making racing possible for me. I had always thought racing was too expensive and out of reach, but joining the military racing team opened doors I never imagined. The support and camaraderie from my team kept me motivated, and my best race to date was at Cadwell Park, where I finished 10th. Competing against the army and navy pushed me to believe in myself even more.

This blog is just the beginning. I want to share more about my journey, the lessons I’ve learnt, and the experiences that have shaped me. Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll stick around for the ride!

Until next time,
Pete
